Product details
481686 is a generic 2000W fan forced element made to replace the circular fan element in many Smeg ovens. It cross references to Smeg numbers including 806891082, 806890591 and 806890653, and suits models such as the SA708X, SCA706X, SFA562X2, A11X-6 and C6GMXA8. Some Blanco ovens, like the BSO60X and BOSE63, take the same element.
Smeg fan oven not heating up
This element wraps around the rear fan, and the fan carries its heat through the oven so every shelf cooks evenly. When the element fails, the fan keeps turning and the light stays on, but fan forced settings stay cool or crawl up to temperature. You may also find the power trips when you choose a fan setting, or spot a split, bulge or burnt patch on the element. If the top and bottom elements still heat on a conventional setting, the fan element is the likely culprit.

Changing the fan element
Isolate the oven at the switchboard before starting. Take out the racks and the fan cover, then unscrew the element from the back wall. The wires connect behind the oven, so it normally has to be slid out of the cabinet. Photograph the terminals before disconnecting them. A hard-wired oven must be reconnected by a licensed electrician.
