Need to turn a corner on a 5/16 inch water line without kinking it? 443-516 is a generic elbow with a 5/16 inch connection on each side, used to join two lengths of the same size tube at an angle. It suits plumbed fridge supply lines, under-sink water filter installs and similar drinking water runs where space behind a cabinet or appliance is tight.
Where a 5/16 inch elbow helps on a water line
Plastic water tube kinks easily when it is bent too tightly, and a kink can choke the flow to an ice maker, water dispenser or filter tap. An elbow makes the turn for you, so the tube can run straight into each side. It is handy where a line comes out of a wall or cabinet and has to drop down or run along the floor, or where a filter housing sits close to a cupboard side. Fitting an elbow is also a good fix when an old bend has cracked or the fridge has been pushed back hard against the line.

Connecting the elbow
Turn off the water to the line and release the pressure by opening the dispenser or filter tap. Cut the tube square with a sharp tube cutter or blade and clean off any burrs. Seat each tube fully into the elbow, or tighten the fitting if it uses nuts, so the tube cannot pull out. Restore the water slowly and check both joints for drips before closing everything up.

Will this connect to 1/4 inch tube?
No. Both sides of 443-516 are sized for 5/16 inch tube. To join a 1/4 inch line to a 5/16 inch line you need a reducing connector, or choose an elbow made for the size of tube you actually have.
