Part 433-516 is a generic straight connector for joining two pieces of 5/16 inch water tube. Both ends take the same size tube and use push-fit connections, so there's nothing to thread or glue. It's a quick fix for a damaged fridge supply line, or for extending a run to a water filter or plumbed fridge.
When to use a 5/16 inch straight joiner
Fridge and filter lines get damaged in predictable ways. A tube gets crushed behind the fridge, nicked during a kitchen renovation, or ends up a little short after an appliance is moved. Rather than replacing the whole run, you can cut out the damaged piece and join the clean ends with this connector. Isolate the water supply before cutting into an existing line. Trim each end with a proper tube cutter so it's square and free of burrs. Push the tube in firmly until it stops, which is further than it first feels, and give it a gentle pull to confirm it has gripped. Turn the water back on and check the joint stays dry.
