Joining two lengths of 1/4 inch water line is what 430-14 is for. It's a generic equal straight connector with a push-fit socket at each end, so both tubes are the same size. Use it to extend a fridge water line, repair a damaged section of tube or join lines on an under-sink filter system.
Joining or repairing 1/4 inch water tube
Push-fit connectors grip the outside of the tube and seal against it, so no tools, glue or clamps are needed to make the joint. That makes this straight joiner the quick way to fix a fridge line that's been nicked or kinked: cut out the bad section and join the two good ends. It also helps when a line comes up short after moving a fridge or filter. If a joint weeps or the tube pulls free, the end was probably cut on an angle or not inserted far enough.

Making a leak-free joint
Turn off the water supply first. Cut each tube end square and clean, and check the end is free of scratches. Push the tube into the connector until it stops, then pull back gently to confirm it's held. Restore the water slowly and watch the joint for a minute or two. To release a tube later, push the collet in and hold it while you pull the tube out.

Will this fit 6mm tube?
1/4 inch tube measures 6.35mm, which is close to 6mm but not the same. Metric and imperial push-fit sizes aren't always interchangeable, so match the fitting to the size printed on your existing tube.
