Fisher & Paykel washer noisy on spin or leaking under the bowl
The bearings carry the spinning shaft that drives the bowl, while the lip seal keeps water in the tub from reaching them. Once the seal wears, water creeps into the bearings, washes out the grease and starts rust. The first sign is usually a growl or rumble during the spin, getting louder over weeks. You may also see rusty water marks or drips under the machine, and the bowl can feel loose or rock when you move it by hand. Replacing the bearings and seal together stops the problem coming straight back.

Fitting a bearing and seal kit
This is a major repair. Unplug the washer and turn off the taps, then strip the machine down to remove the drive motor, bowl and bearing housing. Bearings need to be pressed or driven in squarely with the right tools, and the lip seal must go in the right way round without nicking the lip. If you're not set up for it, a qualified appliance technician is the safer choice.
