429562P is the genuine Fisher & Paykel drive shaft kit, also known as 420794P, for SmartDrive top load washers. More than 50 models are on file, including the GW611 and GW612, the IW810 and IW812, the MW512, the WA8060P1 and WA1068G1, and the WL80T65CW1, plus the AW085 and AW095. It's the shaft that links the motor to the agitator and basket.
Agitator slipping or basket not turning on a SmartDrive washer
On a SmartDrive machine the rotor fixes to the bottom of the shaft, and the shaft turns the agitator during the wash and the basket during spin. Worn splines are the usual failure, leaving the motor turning while the agitator barely moves or slips under load. Other signs are a grinding or knocking sound from under the bowl, a basket that won't spin up to speed, and play you can feel when you rock the agitator by hand.

Replacing the drive shaft
This is a bigger job, so allow time and have a helper to tip the machine. Unplug it and turn off the taps. Typically the agitator, bowl parts and rotor all come off to reach the shaft. Note the order of every washer, spring and seal as it comes apart, check the kit contents against the old parts, and refit in the same sequence before a test load.
