Product details

Ignition switch 425676, written 00425676 in full, is a genuine BSH part for Bosch, Siemens and Neff gas cooktops. It's the switch that tells the spark generator to fire when you push in and turn a gas knob. Ignition switches come singly or on harnesses with several switches, and our record doesn't say which this is, so check your parts list for 425676 before ordering.

Gas cooktop igniter clicking non-stop or not sparking?

Push a knob in on a gas cooktop and the ignition switch on that valve closes, powering the spark generator so the electrodes click until the burner lights. Spills and moisture getting into the switch are the most common cause of trouble. A switch that sticks closed makes the igniters click constantly, even with the knobs off, while one that fails open means no spark when you press that knob. Clicking that stops once the cooktop dries out points to moisture rather than a dead switch, so give it a day before replacing anything.

Who should replace an ignition switch

Ignition switches mount on the gas valves, so in Australia this work is for a licensed gas fitter or licensed electrician. Gas and power must both be isolated before the cooktop is lifted. The old switch usually clips onto the valve body, with its wires running back to the spark generator. After fitting, every burner should be tested for spark and clean ignition.

Questions about this part

My igniter keeps clicking after I wiped the cooktop. Is it this switch?

Possibly, but water in a switch often dries out on its own. Leave the cooktop off for a day. If the clicking continues, or one knob won't spark at all, the switch on that valve is the likely fault.
