Part 424887P is a genuine Fisher & Paykel water valve made by Bitron for top load washing machines. It replaces the earlier number 424137P and is listed for the WL8060P1 and WL1068P1. If your washer won't fill, fills slowly, or keeps running water in when it shouldn't, the valve is high on the list of suspects and worth testing.
Fisher & Paykel washer not filling
The valve is an electrically operated gate between your taps and the machine. When the controller energises a coil, the valve opens and water flows in, and when power is removed a spring snaps it shut. Coils can burn out, leaving the washer sitting empty with a fill fault, while grit in the inlet screens slows filling to a trickle. A valve that won't close properly is worse, as water keeps creeping into the bowl even when the machine is off. Cracked bodies can also leak at the back.

Changing the inlet valve
Turn both taps off and unplug the washer, then disconnect the inlet hoses and have a towel ready for trapped water. Photograph the wiring on each coil before removing the connectors. Fit the new valve, reconnect the wires to match the photo and check the hose washers are in good condition. Turn the taps on slowly and watch for drips.
