The 424348P is a genuine Fisher & Paykel rotor position sensor, the small sensor board that mounts on the stator of the SmartDrive motor in their top load washers. It suits the GW512, GW612 and GW712, the IW712 and IW812, the MW512, and four WL models: the WL70T60CW1, the WL70T60DW1, the WL80T65CW1 and the WL80T65DW1.
F&P SmartDrive washer jerking, stalling or not spinning?
A SmartDrive motor has no brushes or belt, so its controller needs to know exactly where the rotor magnets are to switch the stator windings in the right order. The rotor position sensor reads the passing magnets and feeds that information back. When it fails, the motor may twitch or jerk instead of turning smoothly, agitate weakly, refuse to spin, turn one way only, or stop with a motor fault. Moisture, a damaged lead or a cracked sensor housing can all bring on these faults.

Changing the rotor position sensor
Unplug the washer and turn off the taps. Tip the machine back, or lay it on its side on padding, to reach the motor underneath. Remove the rotor nut and lift off the rotor, unplug the sensor, then release its clips from the stator. Fit the new sensor squarely, reconnect the plug, refit the rotor and run a test cycle.
