Part 420665 is the genuine Fisher & Paykel agitator bolt, the fastener that holds the agitator in place on the drive shaft. It is listed for 30 top load models, from GW, IW and MW machines through to the WA7060G1 and WA8060G1, the WA1068G1 and the WA80T65GW1. A missing or stripped bolt is a small part that causes big wash problems.
Fisher & Paykel agitator loose or not moving?
The agitator does the work in a top loader, turning back and forth to roll clothes through the water. This bolt clamps it to the shaft so it moves in step with the drive. If the bolt is missing, stripped or corroded, the agitator can lift, wobble or slip on the shaft. That shows up as clothes that don't come out clean, a knocking or clunking noise during agitation, or an agitator you can rattle up and down by hand. Left alone, a loose agitator can also wear the splines underneath.

Tightening the agitator bolt
Unplug the washer and make sure the bowl is empty. Take off the cap or cover on top of the agitator to reach the bolt, then undo the old bolt and lift the agitator to check the splines underneath for wear. Seat the agitator back down, fit the new bolt and tighten it firmly without forcing it. Refit the cap and run a short wash to check the agitator turns without knocking.
Questions about this part
Can a loose agitator damage anything else?
Yes. If it rocks on the shaft for long, the splines that the agitator locks onto can wear, and the repair then gets bigger. Fitting a new bolt as soon as you notice the wobble avoids that extra work.
