Fisher & Paykel top loaders in the GW, IW and MW families use lid lock harness assembly 420429, a genuine F&P part. It is the wired assembly that serves the lid lock and links it back to the machine's controller. Models on file are the GW511 and GW512, the GW611 and GW612, the GW711 and GW712, the IW711, IW712, IW811 and IW812, and the MW512.
Fisher & Paykel washer lid lock fault or cycle stopping?
On these top loaders the lid locks during parts of the cycle, and the controller needs a clean signal from the lock circuit before it will spin. If the harness is damaged, with chafed insulation, a corroded plug or a broken wire where it flexes, the machine may stop mid cycle, refuse to spin, beep with a lid lock fault or release the lid at the wrong time. Water getting into the lid area and years of lid movement are the usual culprits. Check the plugs and wires before assuming the controller has failed.

Fitting the harness
Unplug the washer and turn off both taps. The top deck usually lifts once its screws are removed, exposing the lid lock area and the harness route. Take photos of how the harness runs and where it is clipped before removing it. Fit the new assembly along the same path, secure it away from sharp edges and moving parts, then run a short cycle to test.
