This is the genuine Fisher & Paykel digital inlet valve, part number 420147P, a 24V valve in the 10L version. It controls the water coming into the appliance, opening when the control calls for water and closing to end the fill. F&P has used several inlet valves with different voltages and flow ratings, so match 420147P to the number on your old valve before ordering.
Washer not filling or water won't stop
An inlet valve is an electrically operated tap. When the control energises the coil, the valve opens and water flows in, and when power is removed, it should shut tight. A failing valve can leave the machine slow to fill or not filling at all, or let water trickle in while the appliance is off, which can overfill the tub. Buzzing without flow, a cracked body or a leak at the hose connection also point to the valve. Check that the taps are on and the inlet hose screens are clear first.

Changing the inlet valve
Switch off at the wall and turn both taps off, then disconnect the inlet hoses with a towel ready for trapped water. Photograph the wiring and internal hose connections before removing the old valve. Fit the new valve, reconnect everything exactly as it was, then turn the taps on slowly and check for leaks before running a fill.
Questions about this part
Can I use a 240V valve instead?
No. This is a 24V valve, so it must be driven by the same low voltage supply as the original. A valve with a different coil voltage won't operate correctly and could damage the controller. Match the part number on your old valve.
