Fisher & Paykel dryer door won't stay closed?
The door strike is the part the latch engages when you shut the door. Together they hold the door firmly against its seal and help the dryer register that the door is closed, so it will run. Strikes wear down or crack after years of closing, particularly if the door is slammed or leaned on while open. A worn strike lets the door drift open, especially as the drum starts to turn, stops the dryer from starting at all, or makes it cut out partway through the cycle.

Replacing the door strike
Unplug the dryer before you start. Look at where the strike sits on your model, note how it is fixed and take a photo. Remove the old strike, fit the new one in exactly the same position and tighten any fixings without overdoing it. Close the door a few times to check it catches cleanly, then run a short cycle.

Should I replace the latch as well?
Look at both parts. If the latch is cracked, loose or worn smooth, replacing only the strike may not cure the problem. If the latch is in good shape, a new strike is usually enough to get the door closing firmly again.
