Gas oven sparks but won't light or stay lit

DSI stands for direct spark ignition. When you turn the oven on, this module drives the spark at the burner and watches for a flame. Once it senses the burner has lit, it keeps the gas flowing, and if no flame is detected it shuts the gas off for safety. A failing module can leave the igniter clicking with no flame, light the burner only for it to go out after a few seconds, or do nothing at all. Faulty spark leads, a dirty electrode or a weak gas valve solenoid can cause similar symptoms, so a gas fitter will usually test those too.

Fitting the DSI module

Only a licensed gas fitter should install gas oven ignition parts. Shut off the gas supply and cut the power at the switchboard first. Photograph every connection on the old module so the ignition leads and power wiring go back correctly. Once fitted, the gas fitter should test ignition, flame detection and shutdown before the oven goes back into use.
