Medium burner flame too small, yellow or sooty?
The nozzle sets how much gas the burner receives. A semi-rapid burner fitted with a nozzle for the wrong gas type, or one partly blocked by spills, produces a flame that is too small, too large, yellow tipped or noisy. Pans may soot up, the burner may be slow to light, or the flame may lift away from the burner cap. Nozzles also get swapped as part of a natural gas to LPG conversion. Licensed fitting and testing
Only a licensed gas fitter may change cooktop nozzles in Australia. Turn off the gas at the isolation valve and switch off power to the cooktop ignition. The fitter will lift the burner parts, unscrew the old nozzle with the right size socket, fit the new one, then leak test and set the simmer screws for LPG before handing the cooktop back.
