Ceramic cooktop zone not heating?

Under the glass, each cooking zone has a radiant element, a coiled resistance ribbon set into an insulated dish. It glows red through the glass and heats the pan above. When the ribbon breaks, that zone stays cold while the others work. Other signs are a zone that heats only partly, a glowing patch that stops halfway around, or a burnt smell from underneath. Fitting a radiant element

Ceramic cooktops are hard-wired, so isolate the circuit at the switchboard and have a licensed electrician do the work. The glass top usually lifts off once the fixings underneath are released. Photograph the terminals and the temperature limiter, if fitted, then swap the element over and seat it level against the glass. Test the zone on low first.
