Spacers sit between the wall and the dryer's mounting bracket, holding the bracket out from the wall so the dryer clears skirting boards, pipes, taps or other obstructions behind it. They're often needed when a dryer is reinstalled or moved to a different laundry.
Mounting a dryer on the wall
Wall mounting a dryer frees up floor space in a small laundry, but it only works if the bracket is set out properly. Spacers let the bracket stand off the wall by a set amount, keeping the back of the dryer clear of anything behind it. Lost or cracked spacers often come to light when a dryer is moved house, or when a bracket goes back up after renovations. Without them the dryer can sit at an angle, press against a pipe or tap, or rub on the wall as it tumbles.

Fitting the spacers
Follow the installation instructions for your dryer and bracket. The wall has to carry the dryer's full weight, so fix into solid masonry or timber studs with suitable fixings, never plasterboard alone. Check the bracket is level before hanging the dryer. Keep the dryer unplugged while it's lifted into place, and have a second person help with the lift.
