Faded or broken cooker knobs?
Knobs on cookers and ovens take heat from below, grease from cooking and harsh sprays during cleaning. Over the years the silver finish dulls or peels, the printed symbols wear away and the plastic sockets crack, so the knob slips on its shaft. That makes it hard to tell which zone or function is switched on, and a slipping knob may not turn the control at all. Swapping the full set restores the grip and the markings right across the panel.

Fitting the new knobs
With the appliance off and cool, pull each old knob straight off. Check every shaft for cracks or bends, and wipe away grease around the panel. Line the socket in each new knob up with the flat on its shaft and press it on firmly. Turn every knob through its range to confirm the pointer matches the panel markings.
