Foam filters catch lint as air leaves the drum, and they wear out with washing and handling. If your Minimax filter is torn, shrunken or permanently clogged, this pack gets it breathing properly again.

Why a worn Minimax foam filter slows drying

In a Minimax dryer, the foam filter traps lint before the air leaves the machine, protecting the fan and keeping lint off your laundry. As the foam ages it can tear, shrink, go brittle or clog permanently with fine fibres and fabric softener residue. A clogged filter restricts airflow, so loads take longer to dry and the dryer runs hotter, which can trip its safety thermostat. A torn filter lets lint past into the fan and housing, where it builds up and becomes a fire risk. If the foam no longer springs back or has holes in it, replace it.

Changing and cleaning the foam filter

Switch the dryer off at the wall first. Remove the old foam from its holder and check the holder and the area behind it for trapped lint. Fit the new filter so it sits flat with no gaps around the edges. Clean the filter after every load, and if you wash it, make sure it's completely dry before refitting.
