You may find 5371269 or 5306108A on the old one, both earlier numbers for the same control. Fridge running warm, too cold or not cycling?
The thermostat is the dial control that turns the compressor on and off. A capillary tube runs from its body to a point near the cooling surface, and as the temperature changes the gas inside expands or contracts and snaps a set of contacts. When the thermostat fails, the contacts can stick closed, so the compressor never stops and food freezes, or stick open, so the fridge never starts cooling. A knob that turns with no click, a fridge that only cools at one setting, or a compressor that runs nonstop are all signs to check this part.

Fitting a fridge thermostat
Unplug the fridge before you start. Pull the knob off and remove the thermostat housing, then photograph the terminals and how the capillary tube is routed and clipped. Thread the new tube back along the same path and seat its end in the same spot, as a tube in the wrong place gives false temperatures. Avoid kinking the tube. Reconnect, refit the knob and check the fridge cycles on and off over a few hours.
