Converting a gas cooktop between NG and LPG
Natural gas and LPG are supplied at different pressures and carry different heat values, so each needs its own size of injector, also called a nozzle or jet. Running a cooktop on the wrong gas with the wrong injectors gives yellow, sooty flames, flames that lift and blow out, poor heat or a dangerous build up of carbon monoxide. A conversion kit supplies the right injectors for each burner, and the fitter also has to set the pressure, adjust the simmer settings and update the gas type label. That's why this work is legally restricted to licensed gas fitters.
