Dryer drum not turning or slipping

The belt is the only link between the motor and the drum, so when it breaks the motor will run, and may even heat, while the drum stays still. Fitting a reversing dryer belt

Disconnect the dryer from power before removing the panels. Photograph the old belt path around the motor pulley and tensioner, because reversing dryers can be fussy about routing. Wrap the new belt around the drum where the old one ran, then route it back around the pulley and tensioner the same way. Rotate the drum by hand several turns each way to check it tracks before closing up.
