Product details

4055916995 is a Supco bullet piercing valve, stocked under this Electrolux part number. It is a line tap that clamps around copper refrigeration tube and pierces it, giving a technician an access port on a sealed system that was built without one. Typical uses are domestic fridges, freezers and air conditioners when gauges need to go on for diagnosis, recovery or recharging.

Getting access to a sealed fridge or freezer system

Most domestic fridges and freezers leave the factory as sealed systems with no service ports. When a technician needs to read pressures, recover gas or recharge the system, a piercing valve provides that access without cutting the line. The valve body clamps around the tube, a needle pierces the copper as it is tightened, and the valve core then controls flow to the gauge hoses. It is commonly reached for when a fridge is not cooling, a freezer is icing unevenly or a leak is suspected and the gas charge needs checking.

Fitting by a licensed refrigeration technician

Refrigerant work in Australia must be done by a technician holding the right refrigerant handling licence, so this is a trade part. Unplug the appliance first. Check the valve suits the outside diameter of the tube, clean the copper where it will sit and tighten it evenly so the seal beds down. Leak test after fitting, and consider brazing in a permanent access fitting if the system will need servicing again.

Questions about this part

Can I use this to regas my own fridge?

No. Handling refrigerant in Australia requires a licensed refrigeration technician, and venting or wrongly charging a system is unsafe and illegal. Book a licensed technician, who can decide whether a piercing valve is the right way to access your system.

Will it fit any size of copper line?

Piercing valves are made to suit particular tube diameters. Check the size marked on the valve or its packaging against the outside diameter of the line you plan to tap before fitting it.
