BBQ burner won't stay lit or gas valve sticking
Each burner on the barbecue has its own control valve. When you push and turn the knob, the valve opens and the flame failure device is held open while the thermocouple heats up. If the flame blows out, the thermocouple cools and the valve closes to stop unburnt gas escaping. Faults show up as a burner that lights but goes out as soon as the knob is released, a knob that is stiff or loose, a burner that will not turn down properly, or a gas smell around the control panel. If you smell gas, stop using the barbecue, turn off the cylinder and have it checked.
