Product details
Westinghouse WSE6170SA and WSE6870SA fridges take their water through valve 4055904272, the genuine assembly listed here. It sits where your plumbed water line meets the fridge and controls the water supply to the fridge's water features. The older Electrolux number for this same valve is 890141866, so you may see either number on a parts list.
Fridge water valve faults: leaks, no water and no ice
The water valve is an electrically operated tap. When the fridge calls for water, a solenoid coil opens the valve and lets mains water through, then closes it again. If the coil burns out, the dispenser goes dry and, on models with an ice maker, ice stops forming. If the valve sticks open or its body cracks, water can drip from the dispenser, overfill the ice tray or pool behind and under the fridge. Low water pressure or a blocked filter can cause similar symptoms, so check those first.

Replacing the water valve safely
Unplug the fridge and turn off the water supply tap before touching the valve. Pull the fridge out gently so you don't kink or stretch the water line, and keep a towel handy for the water left in the pipes. Note which tube and wire goes where, push each one fully home on the new valve, then turn the water back on and watch for drips.
Questions about this part
Why is my fridge still not dispensing water after a new valve?
Check that the supply tap is fully on, the filter isn't blocked and the line isn't kinked or frozen. If water still won't flow, the fault may be in the dispenser switch or the control board instead.
