Gas cooktops usually carry a mix of auxiliary, semi rapid, rapid and wok burners, and 4055888079 is the genuine cap for the semi rapid burner on an Electrolux group cooktop. Semi rapid is the medium sized burner used for everyday cooking. Caps from other burner sizes won't sit correctly, so match the burner position and the part number before you order. The auxiliary and wok caps have their own numbers.
Uneven flame? Check the burner cap
The burner cap sits on top of the burner head and spreads the gas evenly to the flame ports around its edge. If it's cracked, chipped, warped from heat, or sitting slightly off centre, the flame burns unevenly, lifts, burns yellow or won't light all the way around. Enamel caps can also lose their coating and corrode after boilovers. A missing or wrong cap is a safety problem, as gas can escape unevenly and flames can reach places they shouldn't, so replace it before using the burner again.

Fitting the new burner cap
Make sure the burner is off and cold. Lift off the trivet and the old cap, then clean the burner head and ports with a soft brush so they're dry and clear. Sit the new cap on the burner head and turn it gently until it sits flat and centred. Light the burner and check for an even blue flame all the way around.
