Part 4055883492 is the genuine Westinghouse double cutlery basket for the WFS6606X dishwasher, made up of a pair of half size sections. It is also listed under 42038590. A factory basket is sized for the rack it sits in, so it won't foul the spray arm or block water from reaching the knives and forks the way an ill-fitting one can.

Why the right cutlery basket matters in a Westinghouse dishwasher

The cutlery basket holds knives, forks and spoons upright and spaced so water can reach every surface. Cracked dividers or a broken handle let items drop through and lie flat, where they nest together and come out dirty. Anything that falls through can also jam the lower spray arm or end up in the filter, which leads to poor washing right across the load. Swapping out a damaged basket is one of the simplest ways to get cleaner cutlery from the same machine.

Part details

Genuine Westinghouse part 4055883492

Double cutlery basket made up of two half size sections

Also listed as 42038590

Suits the Westinghouse WFS6606X dishwasher

Fitting and loading tips

No tools needed. Lift the old basket out of the rack and drop the new sections into the same spot. Load most cutlery handles down for better cleaning, but put sharp knives in point down for safety. Mix spoons and forks between compartments so they don't nest together. Check the lower spray arm turns freely by hand before starting a wash.

Questions about this part

Will this fit a Westinghouse dishwasher other than the WFS6606X?

The WFS6606X is the only model on file for this basket.
