The tub gasket is pressed onto the edge of the tub and compresses against the inner door when it's closed, sealing in hot water and steam. After years of heat and detergent it can harden, shrink, split or pull away at the corners. Common signs are water on the floor in front of the machine, steam escaping around the door, or wet cupboard edges. A seal that's gone sticky or out of shape won't spring back, so cleaning alone won't fix it.

Fitting a new tub gasket
Turn the dishwasher off at the wall. Pull the old gasket out of its channel starting at one end, and clean the channel of grime and detergent build up. Starting at the same point, press the new seal in evenly without stretching it, working around the tub. Close the door to check it meets the seal all round, then run a rinse and look for leaks.
