Washer banging on spin? Check the suspension rods
In a top loader, the tub hangs from the top corners of the cabinet on suspension rods. Each rod has a spring or damper at the bottom that soaks up movement as the load spins. As they wear, the tub swings further and further. You'll notice loud banging against the cabinet during spin, the machine walking across the floor, frequent out of balance errors, or a tub that sits lower or tilts to one side when empty. Push down on the tub. If it bounces freely, the rods are worn.

Replacing suspension rods
Unplug the washer and turn off the taps. Lift the lid and top panel to reach the rod hangers at each corner. Change the rods as a set rather than one at a time, so the tub hangs evenly. Note which coded rod goes in each corner before removing anything, and check the tub hangs level before a test spin with a load.
