Top loader banging on spin? Worn suspension rods are a likely cause
In a top loader, the outer tub hangs from the cabinet on four suspension rods. Each rod has a damper at the bottom that soaks up movement and keeps the tub centred while the basket spins. As the dampers wear, the tub swings further with every spin, so you hear loud knocking against the cabinet, see the machine shuffle across the floor or get frequent out of balance stops. A tub that sits low or leans to one side when empty is another clue. All four rods have done the same work, so replacing the full set gives the most even result.

Changing the suspension rods
Switch off at the wall, unplug the machine and turn off both taps. Lift or remove the top panel to reach the corners where the rods hook in. The kit has two rod colours, so check the instructions or the old rods to see which colour belongs in each corner before you start. Swap one rod at a time to keep the tub supported, then run a short spin with a small load and check the tub settles evenly.

Do I need to replace all four rods?
This kit already includes all four, two green and two red. Changing them together is the usual approach, because a mix of worn and new dampers can leave the tub sitting unevenly and still knocking against the cabinet during spin.
