Product details
Gritty residue left on glasses after a wash? Genuine Westinghouse part 4055703872 is the grey micro filter for the WSF6608XA dishwasher, and it's also listed under 42035214. It's the fine filter that sits in the sump at the bottom of the tub and catches food particles before the water is pumped back through the spray arms.
Why a damaged dishwasher filter leaves dishes dirty
Dishwashers recirculate the same water many times during a cycle, so the filter has to catch food scraps before they reach the wash pump and spray arms. The micro filter does the fine work, trapping small particles that a coarse filter lets through. When the mesh tears, the frame warps or the seal around it is lost, debris gets sent back onto the dishes, can block spray arm holes and may jam the drain pump. Persistent grit, smells and poor wash results are the usual signs.

Fitting and cleaning the micro filter
With the dishwasher off, pull out the lower basket, then twist and lift the filter assembly out of the tub floor. Separate the old micro filter and fit the new one, making sure it locks in and sits flat with no gaps. Rinse the filters under running water every week or two, and never run the dishwasher without them in place.
Questions about this part
Is this the coarse filter or the fine one?
This is the micro filter, the fine mesh element. It works alongside the coarser filter and cup in the base of the tub. Check which part is damaged before ordering, as they may be separate parts on your model.
