Cracked or cloudy window on a Simpson or Electrolux dryer
The window gives you a view of the drum, but it also forms the inside face of the door, closing the drum opening while the load tumbles. Years of heat can leave a window brittle and cloudy, and a heavy knock or a stray buckle can crack one. Once it is broken, warm moist air and lint leak into the room, drying can take longer, and sharp edges can catch clothes as the drum turns. A window that has come loose from the door may also rub against the load or rattle.

Fitting the new door window
Pull the plug out of the wall first. With the door open, remove the screws or clips holding the window, keeping any screws in a cup so none go missing. Check the door seal and latch while you have it apart. Seat the new window evenly and tighten the screws snugly in a cross pattern so it pulls in square, then shut the door and run the dryer briefly to make sure it starts.
