Cracked Westinghouse door shelf? What goes wrong
Door shelves hang on moulded ribs or hooks inside the door liner, and every time the door swings, the contents shift and add stress. Over time the plastic grows brittle in the cold and cracks at the corners or along the front lip, and the tabs that hold it to the door can snap. A failing shelf may tilt, fall off when the door is opened, or drop a heavy bottle onto the floor. Replacing it quickly also protects the door liner, which is far harder to fix.

Fitting the new door shelf
Empty the shelf and lift the old one straight up off its supports, easing it out gently if it's tight. Line up the new shelf with the same ribs, push it down evenly on both sides until it's fully seated, and give it a light tug to check it's secure before loading it up again.
