Rangehood buttons not working
This switch block is the control panel for the rangehood, and its five buttons operate the fan and light. Push switches wear out with use, and grease and steam working into the contacts speed that up. Typical faults are a button that stays down or won't latch, a fan stuck on one speed, a fan or light that won't switch off, or nothing happening at all when a button is pressed. A burning smell or scorch marks around the switch mean it should be replaced straight away.

Replacing the rangehood switch
Turn the power off at the wall or isolator before touching anything, and remove the grease filters. The switch is usually reached by taking off the control panel cover. Take a clear photo of the wiring before disconnecting, as each wire must return to the same terminal. If the rangehood is hard-wired rather than plugged in, a licensed electrician must do the job.
