Electrolux or Westinghouse dryer won't start? Check the power switch
Power passes through the on/off switch before it reaches the timer, the drum motor and the heater. Pressing the button closes a set of contacts inside the switch, and pressing it again opens them. Those contacts wear and pit with use, and the push mechanism can crack or stop latching. The usual signs are a dryer that does nothing at all even though the power point works, a button that has to be held in or jiggled before the drum turns, or a dryer that starts one day and not the next. A switch body that looks melted or brown around the terminals has overheated and needs replacing.

Changing the dryer power switch
Pull the dryer plug out of the wall before you open the control panel or lift the top cover. Take a photo of the switch terminals and wire colours so every wire goes back on the same tab. Release the old switch from the panel, seat the new one in the same position and reconnect the wiring. Refit the covers and run a short cycle to confirm it starts and stops properly.
