Leaking or perished washing machine inlet hose

Inlet hoses sit under mains pressure whenever the tap is on, so they're one of the most common sources of laundry leaks. Changing the hot hose

Turn off the hot tap and have a bucket and towel handy for the water left in the hose. Unscrew the old hose from the tap and the machine. Check the new hose has its sealing washers in place, then screw both ends on firmly by hand plus a small extra turn. Don't overtighten the nuts. Turn the tap on slowly and check both ends for drips.
