Part 4055577094 is the genuine agitator assembly, including the filter frame, for a long line of top loading washing machines from Simpson, Westinghouse, Electrolux and Hoover. Models on file include the 22S650J, 22S750J and SWT802SA, the Electrolux EWT806SA and the 700L and 750L series. Earlier numbers are 0231217001 and 0231225001.
Signs your top loader agitator is worn out
The agitator is the column in the centre of the bowl that twists back and forth to move clothes through the water. It connects to the drive through a splined coupling, and on this assembly it also carries the lint filter frame. When the splines strip, the agitator stops moving even though you can hear the motor working. Cracked fins can snag clothes, and a broken filter frame lets lint end up back on the wash. A load that comes out barely mixed or still dirty is another hint.

Fitting the agitator
Unplug the washer before working inside the bowl. Remove the cap or filter at the top of the agitator to reach the retaining bolt or nut, undo it and pull the agitator straight up, rocking gently if it's stuck. Clean the drive shaft splines, slide the new agitator down until it engages, then refit the fixing and cap. Run a short wash to check it moves freely.

This assembly includes the filter frame. If your machine uses a separate lint bag or cup on that frame, check your old one, as those parts may be listed separately and can usually be moved across.
