Simpson dryer not heating? Check the element
The element heats the air that the fan pushes through the drum. Over time the coil wire thins and finally breaks, and from then on the dryer will turn and count down its timer but produce no heat at all. A sagging or partly failed element can also cause hot spots, a burning smell or a tripping safety switch. Before replacing it, check for a blocked lint filter or vent, since restricted airflow is a common reason elements overheat and burn out early.

Replacing the dryer element
Unplug the dryer at the wall before taking any panels off. Photograph the wiring on the element terminals, remove the old element and inspect the overheat cut-outs in the heater area, as a failed element sometimes takes one with it. Fit the new element without stretching or bending the coil, reconnect the wires as they were and run a short heat cycle to confirm warm air.
