Oven not heating from the bottom? Test the lower element
The lower element provides the bottom heat for conventional baking, sitting under the oven floor or across the base of the cavity. When it burns out, the oven may only heat on fan or grill settings, take far longer to reach temperature, or leave cakes and pastry pale and undercooked underneath. Sometimes the element shorts out and trips the safety switch the moment the oven is turned on. A resistance check across its terminals with a multimeter, with the power isolated, will confirm an open circuit.

Fitting the lower element
Turn the oven off at the isolator and let it cool completely. As most ovens are hard-wired, the electrical connections are a job for a licensed electrician. Remove the oven floor or back panel as needed to reach the element, photograph the wiring and transfer the leads to the new element. Check the element sits flat and clear of the panels, then test the bake function.
