Oven door dropping open or not sealing? Check the hinges
The hinges carry the full weight of a heavy glass door and hold it tight against the oven seal when closed. As the springs and pivots wear, the door may drop open by itself, close unevenly, feel loose or sit crooked with a gap at the top or one side. Hot air then escapes past the seal, so the oven heats slowly, the knobs and control panel run hot, and cooking times stretch. A broken hinge can also let the door fall suddenly, which risks breaking the glass. Replacing worn hinges brings back a firm, even close.

Hinge springs are under tension, so follow the release steps carefully and keep fingers clear. Most doors use a hinge on each side, and if one has worn the other usually isn't far behind.
