Simpson dryer squealing or drum dragging?
In these dryers the back of the drum turns on a spigot that runs in a support bush. The pair carry the drum's weight and keep it centred while it tumbles for hours at a time. As the bush wears, the drum drops slightly and starts to squeal, squeak or grind, and it may rub on the front or rear seals. Leave it too long and the spigot can wear through the bush altogether, damaging the drum mounting. Replacing the bush and spigot together restores a quiet, centred drum.

Fitting the bush and spigot
Unplug the dryer and pull it out to work on. Expect to remove the drum to reach the rear support, so photograph the belt route and each panel as you go. Clean out lint from the cabinet while it is apart. Fit the new bush and spigot the way the old ones came out, check the belt and seals for wear, then turn the drum by hand before refitting the panels.
