Replacing a rusted or warped hotplate trim

The trim sits around and under the large coil hotplate, supporting the element and finishing off the opening in the cooktop. Fitting the new trim

Switch the cooker off at the isolating switch and make sure the hotplate is cold. Lift the element as your manual describes, taking care not to strain its terminals or wiring, and remove the old trim. Seat the new trim in the same position, lower the element back into it and check it sits flat and level. If the wiring or terminals look burnt, have a licensed electrician check them before using the cooktop.
