Product details

Genuine Electrolux freezer fan motor 4055558953 is supplied complete, ready to replace a failed motor in the freezer section of an Electrolux group fridge or freezer. It's the motor that circulates cold air off the evaporator coil in frost free designs. With no model list on file, match 4055558953 to your fridge's parts list or the number on the old motor before you order.

Freezer fan motor failing? Here's what you'll notice

The freezer fan pulls air across the cold evaporator coil and pushes it around the freezer and, in many fridges, through a duct into the fresh food side. When the motor fails, the compressor still runs but the cold stays trapped near the coil. Typical symptoms are a freezer that's only just cold, a fridge section that warms up, ice forming on the back panel, and a buzzing, squealing or knocking noise that changes when you open the freezer door. A fan that stays silent with the door switch held in is another clue.

Fitting the freezer fan motor

Switch the fridge off at the power point and pack the frozen food into an esky with ice bricks. Take out the shelves and the rear panel to reach the fan. If the area is iced over, let it thaw naturally rather than chipping at it. Photograph the wiring, fit the new motor and check the blade spins freely before refitting the panel.

Questions about this part

How do I know it's the fan and not the compressor?

Listen at the back of the fridge. If the compressor is humming and the condenser is warm but the freezer fan inside is silent or noisy, the fan motor is the likely problem. If nothing runs at all, the fault is more likely somewhere else.
