Product details

Electrolux part 4055538674 is a genuine ignition spark plug, the ceramic electrode that sparks to light a gas burner. It comes with a 600mm lead, and lead length matters with these parts, so measure your old one if you can. It's an Electrolux group gas cooking part with no published model list, so check 4055538674 against your appliance's parts list before ordering.

Gas burner clicking but not lighting?

When you push and turn a gas knob, the ignition unit sends high voltage pulses down the lead to the spark plug beside the burner. The spark jumps to the burner cap and lights the gas. A cracked ceramic, a damaged lead or a corroded tip lets the spark leak away, so you get clicking with no flame, a weak spark, or sparking somewhere under the cooktop instead of at the burner. If only one burner fails to light and its electrode looks cracked or burnt, the spark plug is the likely fault.

Replacing a spark electrode safely

Turn the appliance off at the wall and close the gas supply before you start. Route the new lead along the same path as the old one, clear of hot surfaces and sharp edges, and push the terminal fully onto the ignition unit. Any work that disturbs gas pipes, burners or fittings must be done by a licensed gas fitter. Check every burner lights cleanly afterwards.

Questions about this part

Can I use a spark plug with a different lead length?

It's best to match the length. A lead that's too short won't reach the ignition unit, and one that's too long has to be bundled up near hot parts. This part has a 600mm lead, so measure your old one before ordering.
