It is the rotating plate in the base of the cavity that carries your food round while it heats. A tray that is cracked, chipped or missing means uneven heating and a risk of the dish catching on the walls. The diameter and material are not recorded against 4055530648, so compare it with your old tray and parts list before ordering.

Why the turntable tray matters

Microwaves heat in a pattern of stronger and weaker spots. The turntable moves food through that pattern so it cooks more evenly, which is why a microwave without its tray leaves cold centres and overheated edges. The tray rests on a roller support and engages a coupling driven by a small motor under the floor. If it turns unevenly or grinds, check that the rollers are clean and the tray is seated on its coupling. Replace a damaged tray, as cracks can spread with heat.

Part details

Genuine Electrolux part 4055530648

Turntable tray for a microwave

Diameter, material and models not on file, compare with your old tray

Fitting the turntable tray

Turn the microwave off and let the cavity cool.
