It's the inner cap that sits in the middle of a burner with more than one flame ring. A cap that's chipped, warped or badly discoloured can upset the flame, so replacing it is a simple fix. Measure your old cap and check the number before ordering.

Uneven or yellow flames? Check the burner cap

The burner cover sits on top of the crown and spreads gas evenly to the flame ports around it. If it's cracked, warped, coated in burnt-on food or not sitting flat, the flame can lift, burn yellow, go out at low settings or form uneven patches. Some burners may also struggle to light. Before replacing the cover, clean it and the crown, dry them thoroughly and make sure the cover is seated correctly. If the flame is still poor with a clean, properly seated cap, a new one is the next step.

Part details

Genuine Electrolux group burner cover

Part number 4055529046

Internal (inner) cover for a DC burner

For gas cooktops

Fitting the inner burner cover

Make sure the burner is off and cool.
