Electrolux part 4055529020 is the genuine black top for a semi-rapid gas burner. The semi-rapid is the medium sized burner on most gas cooktops, between the small auxiliary and the large rapid burner. The top is the cap that sits on the crown and spreads the flame evenly. Replace it if the enamel has chipped, the cap has warped or it no longer sits flat. Check 4055529020 against your cooktop parts list first.
Uneven flame on a semi-rapid burner
A burner cap has to sit perfectly level on the crown for the gas to spread evenly through the ports. If the cap is warped, cracked or badly chipped, the flame may lift, burn yellow, roar, or only light around part of the ring. A damaged or misplaced cap can also stop the flame reaching the thermocouple, so the burner goes out when you let go of the knob. Before replacing it, clean the cap and crown and check the cap is seated on its locating points.

Fitting the burner top
Turn the burner off and let it cool completely. Lift off the old cap, clean the crown underneath and make sure the ports are clear. Place the new cap so it sits flat and centred, then light the burner and check for an even blue flame all the way round. If it still burns poorly, have a licensed gas fitter inspect it.
