Fan bake not heating in a Westinghouse oven
In the fan modes, the fan draws air from the cavity across this hot ring and blows it back out, giving even heat across all the shelves. If the ring burns out, the fan still turns and the light comes on, but the oven barely warms in fan modes, while the top and bottom elements may still work in conventional settings. You might also spot a bulge, crack or burnt section on the element, or find the safety switch trips the moment a fan mode is selected. A multimeter showing no continuity across the two terminals confirms a failed element.

Changing the fan element
Isolate the oven at the switchboard and let it cool right down. Remove the racks and unscrew the rear fan cover, then undo the element's screws. The terminals are reached from behind, so the oven normally has to come out of the cabinet. Snap a photo of the terminal connections first. Get a licensed electrician to reconnect a hard-wired oven.
