Product details
Genuine Electrolux group sensor 4055462172 measures pipe temperature in an air conditioner, and its description carries the reference GW4100. Pipe sensors sit in a small pocket on the refrigerant pipework or coil and tell the controller how hot or cold the coil is running. Our records don't hold a model list for it, so check the code in your parts list, or send your unit's model and serial number.
Coil sensor faults on a split system
The pipe sensor protects the system and manages defrost. In cooling it stops the indoor coil freezing up, and in heating it tells the board when the outdoor coil needs a defrost or the indoor coil is warm enough for the fan to start. A faulty pipe sensor can cause ice on the coil, water dripping from the indoor unit, heating that cuts in and out, a fan that won't start in heat mode, or a sensor error code. Testing its resistance at a known temperature is the quickest way to confirm.

Fitting a pipe sensor
Isolate the air conditioner at the circuit breaker before opening it up. Note which pocket the old sensor came out of, as indoor and outdoor units can have more than one. Push the new probe fully into the same pocket, refit any retaining clip and insulation, and plug it into the same socket on the board. Hard-wired systems should be worked on by a licensed technician.
Questions about this part
Where is the pipe sensor located?
In most split systems it's clipped into a small copper pocket on the coil or refrigerant pipe, with a lead back to the control board. Outdoor units can have their own pipe sensors too, so check which one has failed before ordering.
