This aluminium grease filter is the genuine replacement for a group of Westinghouse rangehoods, part 4055432928. It's listed for the WRF600CS and WRF900CS, the WRG630CS, WRG630CW, WRG930CS and WRG930CW, plus the CS602S and CS902S. It also goes by the number RS60017, so if that's the number on your old filter, this is the one to order.
What a clogged rangehood filter does to extraction
Every time you cook, the fan draws steam, smoke and grease up through this filter. The aluminium filter traps grease droplets before they reach the motor and ducting, which keeps the fan clean and reduces the fire risk inside the hood. Once it's caked, air struggles to get through. You'll notice the hood getting louder while pulling less, cooking smells hanging around the kitchen, and grease dripping back onto the cooktop. A filter that's torn, bent out of shape or no longer cleans up properly should be replaced rather than refitted.

Removing and refitting the filter
Turn the rangehood off and give the lights and canopy time to cool if they've been on. Most filters drop out by pulling a release catch at the front edge and then sliding the back out of its slot. Fit the new filter back edge first and push it up until the catch clicks. Wash it regularly in hot soapy water and let it dry fully before it goes back in.

Can I wash the filter instead of replacing it?
Yes, regular washing in hot soapy water keeps it working. Replace it once the aluminium is torn, the frame is bent so it no longer sits flush, or the grease has built up to the point that cleaning won't clear it.
How many filters does my rangehood take?
Count the filter panels on the underside of your hood before ordering. Wider rangehoods often take more than one, so order enough to replace them all at the same time and keep the airflow even.
